Potential Draft Target Marshon Lattimore Visiting Bears Today

Chicago Bears News

One of the few perks of a 3-13 season is that it gives a team ample opportunity to better itself in the draft (we’re really bright-siding this one, aren’t we?).

And as owners of the third overall pick this April, the Chicago Bears are not taking anything for granted. Already, they’ve scheduled tons of interviews with top prospects and potential picks, to find the right, future difference-maker.

And Monday’s visitor, Marshon Lattimore, could be one such guy:

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports that the Bears are welcoming Ohio State cornerback Marshon Lattimore for a visit today. Lattimore is regarded as the draft’s top-rated corner in a deep class, and has the potential to add a dimension currently lacking from Bears’ group.

Speed and ball-skills are important to Lattimore’s game, as he projects to be the kind of shutdown corner the Bears don’t have, haven’t had in a while, and need going forward as long as Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford are still slinging the pigskin in the NFC North.

The only real hangup with Lattimore involves a concern over his hamstring injuries, which he recently indicated are a thing of the past. If Lattimore is to be believed and his hamstrings really are healthy, there isn’t much of an argument against choosing the Ohio State product third overall (all things equal).

And even though the Bears added Prince Amukamara and Marcus Cooper in free agency, they’re still in line to add to their stable of cornerbacks.
