Days after suffering a broken arm in the Chicago Bears’ Week 3 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, another starter was placed on injured reserve:

Indeed, on Friday, safety Quintin Demps joined linebacker Jerrell Freeman as team captains who have hit IR in the first four weeks of the season. The Bears signed Demps as a free agent last offseason with the idea he would shore up a secondary that had struggled to create turnovers over the last few years.
Chicago’s depth is being tested early and often in 2017, and it hasn’t always worked out. That said, Adrian Amos started in place of Demps in Thursday’s loss against the Green Bay Packers, and earned an 83.9 grade from Pro Football Focus for his efforts in his first start of 2017. He figures to get a lion’s share of the defensive snaps with Demps on IR.
With Demps’ placement on IR, the Bears now have eight players on injured reserve … and have waived/injured six others.
